Let’s climb the highest peak in each of Australia’s eight states and territories, we said. Discounting external territories, Mount Kosciuszko in New South Wales is Australia’s highest peak at 2228m. Utilise the convenient chairlift from the car park in Thredbo and it takes only a couple of hours to stroll to the summit (in summer of course). So what of the peaks in the other states and territories? A quick walk up a paved road to a lookout? A sand dune outside a resort hotel? How hard can it be?
There is only one way to find out.
